Transracial Adoption
In the United States Transracial Adoption is typically (and I say typically because the norm is…) a white family adopting a child of a different race.
From NPR we have a different story; an African American Family adopting a Caucasian child.
Here is the original post.

Why should it matter what race the family adopting or the adopted child is? Shouldn’t it only matter that an unwanted child is being taken in and loved by a family that wants them?

I agree especially because our foster care and adoption systems in the US typically do not have enough couples of ethnic backgrounds to take children into their homes.
However, there is MUCH debate over this. I would love to hear more opinions on this.

In Canada right now, 1 in 2 marriages is inter-cultural, 1 in 5 is inter-racial and 1 in 3 children born today are of mixed-race. I think families that are of mixed race through adoption are slightly ahead of what will be the majority of families in the next ten years.
