The View from Windows 2000
I had a post in mind for this month’s topic, “The View from My Window”…I had it in my head for weeks because I had the most fabulous window in the house I grew up in. It was the window that my father and I sat many nights and watch snow fall. And, since this weekend is Father’s Day I thought it would be perfect.
But…and there is a But…
I just received an email from a friend whom I met for only two short days while we were on our first trip to Guatemala and it makes me think that there are other types of “windows” in my life.
I share my trials and tribulations with you all on almost a daily basis; almost like a journal. Some of you respond in the comments section. Some of you respond via email. Some of you just lurk and that’s okay (but I would still love to hear from you and I do write back).
This friend and I have shared more via email than some of my friends and I have ever shared because of our unique situation; we are both in the midst of an emotional adoption from Guatemala. Sure, we shared a few meals in the hotel in Guatemala, chatting about our children and our experiences but this blog and my personal blog have been port holes between her home and mine.
Interestingly enough, there is also a third party that “links” us together and perhaps someday we will all meet face to face once again. That link unexpectedly brightens my day every so often with words of wisdom or a bit of snark.
We all know that in this preposterous world of ours that sometimes windows open for a reason and they should, of course, remain that way. Closing them would just be insane.

I was disappointed in this post initially because I thought it was going to be a diatribe against Bill Gates, something I always look forward to from over here in MacLand. But I do hope you and the people you mention here are able to get together again someday–perhaps the timing will be perfect and you’ll all meet again in Guatemala when you pick up your children. Wouldn’t that be wonderful!

Hi Marcie,
First of all, snark is my new favorite word. Secondly, I cross my fingers and make a wish every day that we can all be in Guatemala together again to pick up our little Guatemalan peanuts.
It is amazing how quickly you can bond with another person or family when you are in a shared situation, especially if that situation is joyous or stressful or both (ours being, of course, a magnified version of the “both”).
I also enjoy those occasional windows opened by an unexpected email. Especially from someone who “gets” what you are going through.
Have a great week. I hope the puppy is OK. Here’s to good news coming from Guatemala through the agency, and to new photos coming soon.
Take care,
Lynn
