A Child Chosen - Perspectives of an Adoptive Parent

The Best Adoption Books

by Marcie on January 17th, 2008

I have read my fair share of adoption books including some pretty controversial ones like Holding Time, one that I used the theories from sparingly.

I do have some favorites (and I own ALL of these) but I would love to know yours…

Children’s book: Borya and the Burps: An Eastern European Adoption Story and Motherbridge of Love
whaletalk.jpg Attachment: Attaching in Adoption: Practical Tools for Today’s Parents
Medical and Institutional: Help for the Hopeless Child: A Guide for Families (With Special Discussion for Assessing and Treating the Post-Institutionalized Child), Second Edition
Preparation for Travel: Adopting a Toddler: What Size Shoes Does She Wear?
Sensory Integration: Raising a Sensory Smart Child: The Definitive Handbook for Helping Your Child with Sensory Integration Issues
Magazine: Adoptive Families
Creating Lifebooks: LifeBooks : Creating a Treasure for the Adopted Child
Fetal Alcohol Syndrome: I have and like this book: Recognizing and Managing Children with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome: Fetal Alcohol Effects- A Guidebook but I have heard that this one is fantastic: Broken Cord.
Teen Read: And because my Master’s Degree is in Young Adult Lit we can’t forget Chris Crutcher’s Whale Talk, right Dana (AJ’s first babysitter/crush)?

What your favorites?
