Pregnant Drunk NOT Arrested?
I continue to read more cases like these and it makes me simply nauseous. I don’t know if my radar is tuned into finding stories like this (or perhaps it is just my Google feed?) or if my eye just catches things like this now because I know what alcohol does to a fetus.
Like the article in Strollerderby states, New Zealand police responded to a domestic violence complaint only to find a heavily intoxicated woman who was nine months pregnant. She had been drinking with her partner for eight hours.
The man was arrested for assault but police did not know what to do with her…should they arrest her for endangering her child or refer the case to Family Services?
In the US the only state that a pregnant woman can be prosecuted for endangering her fetus through drugs is South Carolina.

This to me proves the system does not place children above all else. We have a bio mom who all three children have problems indicating prenatal alcohol and drug abuse. Has she been held accountable for these problems? NO! Yes the children have all been removed but even though two of them tested postive for methamphetamines the state will not terminate her parental rights! This is stomach turning…to us anyway
