Is this Adoptive Couple Out of Bounds?
Thanks to one of my weekly reads, I found this story. It sent me into a whirl because I thought it was a hoax. Come to find out…it’s totally true!
Is this adoptive couple out of bounds or are they within their right to approach women in this manner?

They are COMPLETELY out of bounds.
It boggles my mind that people might even consider that this was appropriate, never mind actually approach a woman in this way. Unbelievable.

Totally out of bounds.
They completely dehumanized that woman. And they were discriminating, to boot. (Think they’re leaving those cards for any pregnant business execs with a six-figure salary?)
This incident illustrates exactly what is wrong in infant adoption: it’s become all about finding babies for adults, rather than finding homes for children who actually need them.

Yep…totally agree with you Paragraphein about the six figure salary.
What has really started to bother me about domestic adoption is the horror stories I hear about agencies approaching mothers in hospitals. I never knew that happened until I started reading more birth mother blogs. It disgusts me.

WOW! I am feeling kind of speechless. I just can’t imagine being that desperate to “get” an infant.
We had an incident up here in Canada a few months back where an infant was abandoned in a parking garage. They talked on the news about how 30 or so people had called the local Children’s Aid to say they wanted to adopt her. If they want to adopt so bad, why wait until the kid is in the news??

Um, yeah, I think they were out of bounds–holy cow. That kind of makes me throw up a little.

It was absolutely inappropriate. I really don’t see how anyone can argue otherwise.

That is creepy.
That would have really upset me if it happened to me when I was expecting.
I think that there are much better alternatives for a couple who wants to adopt, even if they are having trouble finding a baby.
Why don’t they see if they can help a child in the foster care program, or try to adopt an older or difficult to place child?
