Is it Anxiety?

by Marcie on March 20th, 2008

We had another meltdown yesterday when we tried to head off to AJ’s IEP meeting. Grandma came over to watch him while we went to the meeting but AJ had not seen her since Christmas because she has been traveling. To him, she was new and the transition was strange. We keep all of our mornings the same and since November he has not wanted to go anywhere in the mornings.

In fact, he does not want to go anywhere…not to the grocery store, not outside for bike-rides (unless it is over a certain temperature),  not even to grandma and grandpa’s to water the flowers. He will only go to to school, his special needs camp, and to swimming; places he feels safe with people he feels safe.

So, my thought is that he is experiencing some form of anxiety. What do you all think?
