It Took Me a Year?

After my semi-annual dentist appointment this morning (and a lengthy conversation with the hygienist about adoption and infertility, as she is finally pregnant after 4 IVF attempts) I drove to the Secretary of State to get new stickers for our license plates because, you guessed it, they expired today.
While standing in line and writing a […]

“The Out of Sync Child” Podcast

Sensory Integration Dysfunction or Sensory Processing Disorder (SID or SPD) is one of the most common disorders seen in adopted children, including my son. It can be minor or severe…so severe that it disrupts every aspect of their daily lives. It does, and can with AJ.
According to Carol Stock Kranowitz, SPD is the oversensitivity and […]

Adoption Costs: Domestic

Babylune prompted me to post about adoption fees after her post about baby expenses. How much do you think it costs to give birth to a baby in the US? About $7500. Compare that to adoption and you biological families have it pretty “financially” easy (if all goes well, that is).

In the last few days I have run into a handful of bloggers and people who are not up on politically correct adoption terms, including myself. I often find myself saying we are getting another child. Why? No idea. But it is certainly not PC.

Seven Days, Day Seven

I admit…I’m toy crazy.
I’ve been working really hard on my lead free toy issues over at My Two Boys. So hard, in fact, that I’m exhausted. I had originally been updating the list each time I came across a site that fit the lead free toy criterion but yesterday I reconfigured the list so it […]

How Does One “Get” a Baby?

I hear it all the time…in fact I say it.
“We’re getting a baby.” It’s weird saying it but sometimes it seems so much easier to say than”we’re adopting a baby”.
But is it PC?

Seven Things: Day 6

My family is already multi-racial. We are Korean, Indian, and Russian (although Caucasian), and Caucasian.
When we completed our domestic adoption assessment there was no question about race. How could we say no?
